Fragrance enthusiast, educator, reviewer, community builder. (And aspiring “nose.”)

FRAGRANCE ENTHUSIAST

I became aware of having olfactory (scent) memory at a young age. I was entranced by the power fragrance has to immediately transport us to a different time and place, and I began amassing a library’s worth of scent memories in my mental collection. I was wearing personal fragrance by middle school, burning candles by high school, and got serious about exploring my love for fragrance in my mid-20s.

EDUCATOR

I am naturally curious and want to learn as much as I can about my passions. I don’t want to know simply what something smells like, but also why it smells that way, and how it smells that way. Through training my nose (with a dedicated approach not unlike a sommelier) and self-education on both the art and science of fine/home fragrance, I’ve spent years learning alongside my viewers on what goes into fragrance development, marketing, scent stories, notes and building accords, etc. I strive to educate and inform so that we all have a better understanding and appreciation for what we’re smelling– to learn what we love, and how to best enjoy and continue to create our own scent memories.

REVIEWER & COMMUNITY BUILDER

The TouchTheFireTwice YouTube channel was launched with success in 2012, where I started to explore the idea of sharing my interest with others, working to understand notes, and learning about the magical blend of science and art that creates home and fine fragrance.

After a brief hiatus, TTFT was relaunched in late 2021 with a renewed mission and passion to build community around fragrance and share my now signature “in-depth sniff and comparison” review style, where I dissect and analyze all the parts we experience with fragrance, starting with the name, visuals, and fragrance notes, offering my interpretation of the fragrance itself, and an assessment of a candle’s performance– appeal, strength, throw, authenticity, sillage, etc.

Notably, my reviews are known for the element where I compare and contrast a fragrance to multiple other notable/existing fragrance blends (or in some cases, actual fruits, herbs, plants) that my viewers may already be familiar with so that I may truly convey the fragrance story in words and by awakening their own scent memories as the next-best-thing to passing the fragrance through the screen.
